Justine is 13 years old and began her violin studies at the tender age of two. She was accepted to her first youth orchestra, the Peninsula Youth Orchestra Sinfonia, at the age of seven, where she was the youngest member for 2 years. In 2004, she served as concert mistress of that orchestra. At the age of nine, she replaced her brother, Brendon as the youngest member of the advanced group, The Peninsula Youth Orchestra (PYO), where she now holds the position of second chair first violin, and sits right next to her older brother Brendon who is concertmaster.
Justine was a three time consecutive first place winner in her age category at the National Level of the United States Air Force Talent Contest. She appeared on the local news several times with her brother, youth orchestra, or family quartet. In 2008, Justine won 3rd place in PYO's concerto competition for the senior division. In 2009, Justine won 1st place in the senior division of the PYO concerto competition and performed as soloist with the orchestra. Justine is also the second violinist in her family quartet. In July 2010, Justine won a full scholarship to study at the National Sphinx Performance Academy located at the well known Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. Justine, a rising 9th grader and an honor roll student, will attend Menchville High School in the fall. Justine currently studies with Viriginia Symphony's Assistant Concertmaster, Amanda Armstrong.
